Alwyn Hutton's Biography

Alwyn Hutton
My approach to coaching athletes is similar to that of a farmer attending to his crop. A farmer uses years of knowledge that was passed down by his predecessors.

I have been blessed to have been tutored by some of the best track and field minds, such as: Foggy Borrows, Olympic Coach of Jamaica, Dr. Baron A. Dyce, Multi-Olympian, Brady Crain, National US 200-meter Champion, Roberto J. Vives, Director of Track and Field at University of Albany.

I realize the importance of guidance, perseverance, patience, and tediousness in my approach to all my trainees. My objective is to not only prepare each individual athletically but, to also help them to develop outstanding intrapersonal skills, build self-esteem, and value discipline. My motivation is their success! Track and field is the foundation for many of my students to be able to tackle life’s obstacles, achieve educational endeavors, and financial security.

Since 1986, I have had the opportunity to coach in the capacity as a volunteer in the following schools: Taft High School, Bronx, NY; Truman High School, Bronx, NY; Evander High School, Bronx, NY; Clinton High School, Bronx, NY; Kennedy High School, Bronx, NY and Woodland High School, Hartsdale, NY.

In 1989, I worked as Head Sprint Coach at Mount Saint Michaels Academy, a private catholic school, in the Bronx, NY. During my tenure, the team won various catholic school division titles and championships.

The following athletes are some of my high achievers, and I am proud to have played a role in their success:
