Venom Sports 16U Boys place 2nd at AAU National Championship
The Venom Sports 16u boys’ basketball team’s leading scorers were Nick Hendra and Jamal Lightbourne. We also had outstanding all around plays from our point guard Justin Walters and swingman Kortney Parker who at times carried the team with his aggressive style of play. John Foreman gave the team very good minutes and did a great job on the boards. Aaron Attande and Brian Ford played pivotal roles with their rebounding and scoring off the bench.

The Big Dance
In Little Rock, Arkansas (AAU D2 Nationals), the team went 2-1 in pool play and advanced to the winner’s bracket.

The first game in the bracket was against the Arkansas Warriors. They were a very strong and sound team with an up tempo style of play. We had our share of problems against them with their active press but, we left the court with a 51-46 victory and moved further into the bracket.

Our next game was against a team called "Play Hard Play Smart". We played this game well. "Nick the Quick” came out at opening buzzer with a big three pointer. This type of playing continued throughout the game and "Venom lived another day."

The Long Island Lightning was our next victim as we progressed into the “Final Four.” This was very ironic because this was the NY team that we lost to at the NY Metro Regional Championships. So you know that they know us and we know them. Well, we started off playing really slow and sluggish and found ourselves down by 15 points going into in the second half. However, as you all know, we never die! Thanks to Jamal Lightbourne's full court drive and finish, we were off to the final.

Coach Keith concluded by saying, “Well, I will say this, I enjoyed every single minute with this team and this group of young men. We finished the season with a 25-4 record and were runners-up (2nd place) in the AAU D2 National championship, which by the way, gives us an automatic bid into the 2006 Championship.

Venom Sports Track & Field Team

Congratulations to our Track & Field team, coached by Mr. Vee, for their successful debut season. All 7 members started off extremely well with their participation at the AAU NY Metropolitan District Championships, the 2005 USATF Long Island Outdoor Championships, the 2005 AAU Region 1 Championships and the AAU Junior Olympic Games.

Charles Vernon, Claudio Delli Carpini, Peter Schnapp, Adam Bernard & Rod Osborne became Venom’s first NY Metropolitan District Champions in any of the AAU sports in which we participate.

At the 2005 AAU Region 1 Championships, all of the athletes did very well and advanced to the Junior Olympics. However, Claudio Delli Carpini & Charles Vernon were the team’s standouts.

Claudio, competing in the Youth Boys’ division, pulled a hat trick winning the Long Jump (19’ 4”), the High Jump (6’ 0”) and the 100M Hurdles (14.86).  He set a new Region 1 records in all three events. Charles swept the Intermediate Boys 100M (11.45) & 200M (23.04) dashes. He also was the anchor leg of the winning 400M relay team, with Andrew Ferris, Peter Schnapp & Rod Osborne, that set a new Region 1 record with a time of 45.64.  Rounding off Charles’ achievements was his 3rd place run in the 400M dash.

At the Junior Olympics, Claudio was our only medal winner. He placed 3rd (bronze) in the High Jump, with a jump of 5' 10". Although the 400M relay team (Adam, Rod, Peter & Charles) placed 31st, they ran a personal best of 44.88.
