Congratulations to our athletes that participated on Sunday at the AAU District Championship (Regional Qualifier).  The standout athlete of the meet was Mychael for setting 3 new club records and won a gold medal in the long jump.   Special kudos goes out to Isaiah for his 3 personal records and his firs club record.

Mychael Vernon (age 6) set a new outdoor Primary Girls (PG) club record in the 100M, with a time 20.02.  She also set a new outdoor Primary Girls (PG) club record in the 200M, with a time 47.87, taking 5th place.  Lastly, Mychael took 1st place in the long jump, with a jump of 7’ 9” and set her 3rd new outdoor Primary Girls (PG) club record.

Isaiah Kamara (age 6) placed 2nd in the 400M dash, with a time of 2:23.40 (dropping 30 seconds off of his previous best), setting a PR and his first club record (Primary Boys (PB)).  He also competed in the 100M & 200M dashes and setting PRs in both, with time of 25.06 & 64.97 respectively. 

Cruz Vernon (age 5) set a new outdoor Primary Boys (PB) club record in the Long Jump, with a jump of 7’ 0.5”, bettering his personal best by 7 ½ an inches. He also took a silver medal in the 800M and a bronze medal in the 200M.

Mychael, Isaiah & Cruz all qualified to advance to the AAU Region 1 Championship (AAU Junior Olympic Qualifier), which will be held at Wilbur Cross High School, New Haven, CT on June 27-29.  Please join me in wishing them success.
